How many of you first year upper elementary teachers are a wee bit apprehensive about that first day in the fifth or sixth grade? By now, of course, many of you have experienced that first day; for others that day is just around the corner. Unfortunately, all the inservices you were forced to attend, or attended voluntarily, did not prepare you for that first day or any of the rest to follow. No inservice will.
As a recently retired elementary teacher of some twenty-five years, public and private (the kids are the same), I invite your comments. The journey we are beginning together is dedicated to making your classroom experiences as enjoyable and self-fulfilling as mine were. Let’s talk.
